What is an Au Pair?
An Au Pair is someone from overseas who comes to live with you as part of the family; they receive pocket money and in return assist with childcare and provide additional help around the home.

Au Pair is a French word which means “on a par” or “equal to”, which at Au Pair NZ we believe means that they are an equal and an important part of your family. It is our intention to see see our Au Pairs become a valued member of the family. They typically stay for between 6 or 12 months and in many cases they remain in contact with families for many years afterward they return home.
Why Au Pair NZ?

Au Pair NZ aims to make the process of selecting and organising an Au Pair as easy as possible.  Founded by Tracey Orange a busy mother of two lively children she fully understands the need for an additional pair of hands to help around the home.

Au Pair’s offer a flexible and alternative form of child care whilst also providing a wonderful experience for the whole family and at Au Pair NZ we spend time finding out what your needs are so that we can match you with an Au Pair that will suit your family and needs perfectly.

What an Au Pair can do for you

We all need help with different things and an Au Pair can definitely take the load off in the home.  It is important to remember though that they are not a to be taken advantage of during their stay.  Au Pairs normally work between 30 and 40 hours a week, this can include some evening babysitting duties.  Au Pairs should have at least two days off each week.

Au Pairs are more than happy to help with child care and you can definitely have them taking care of your day to day childcare needs i.e. getting children dressed, preparing children meals, taking children to play groups and other activities, delivering and picking up children from school.

In addition you can also ask your Au Pair to help out with light duties around the home eg food shopping, keeping the children’s room tidy, preparing dinner etc. They are not a full time domestic and should be treated with respect at all times.
